Can I buy electrical appliances abroad and use them safely back in the UK?

It can be dangerous to use them if they do not have a British plug.

If you buy an electrical appliance abroad, it can be dangerous to use them if they do not have a British plug. Using foreign plugs in UK sockets is dangerous if they have not been adapted for UK use and this could result in an electrical fire or shock. To be safe, we advise you not to buy electrical appliances from other countries.
