Do I need a smoke detector in every room of a holiday let in England?

We strongly recommend at least one smoke alarm is installed on each storey of the premises on which there is a room used wholly or partly as living accommodation.

You should ensure that checks are made to make sure that each prescribed alarm is in proper working order on the first day of each new tenancy.

Finally, you should also have a carbon monoxide detector wherever there is a combustion appliance.
