Private landlords in England and Scotland must have safety checks carried out every five years on the electrical installations in rental properties*. We recommend that you use a registered electrician for this work. You can find one in your area here.
When you search, you can filter results by clicking "To undertake an electrical safety report" to find firms and tradespeople who are carrying out landlord checks.
Although not yet a legal requirement, we recommend that landlords in Wales and Northern Ireland have their electrical installations checked every five years to ensure the safety of their tenants and properties.
* This will also be a legal requirement in Wales from July 2022.
