I am a three-generation farm tenant and have been told that the property's electrics need rewiring at my cost. I can't afford this so are there any grants available?

Generally, tenants should not have to cover the cost of a rewire. If the property is in England or Scotland, your landlord is obliged to have the electrics checked every five years and any faults highlighted should be repaired within 28 days.

However, if you have what is deemed a "long lease" it could be out of scope of the regulations affecting privately rented properties so you should check the lease for the detail.
