I am a three-generation farm tenant and have been told that the property's electrics need rewiring at my cost. I can't afford this so are there any grants available?

Generally, tenants should not have to cover the cost of a rewire. If the property is in England or Scotland, your landlord is obliged to have the electrics checked every five years and any faults highlighted should be repaired within 28 days.*

However, if you have what is deemed a "long lease" it could be out of scope of the regulations affecting privately rented properties so you should check the lease for the detail.

* This will also be a legal requirement in Wales from July 2022.
