The Part P certificate itself doesn’t need to be renewed, but you should keep it in case you sell the property to prove the work was done according to the correct standards. Although it is not a legal requirement, we recommend that you get a qualified electrician to carry out an inspection of the electrical installation in your home every ten years - they will issue an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR).
If you are considering renting out your property, you will be legally required to have the electrics inspected before your tenant moves in, and then on a five yearly basis.
If you are already a private landlord, the electrics must be inspected by 1st April 2021, and then every five years.
