We recommend that you use a registered electrician to carry out an inspection of the installation in your home - this should be carried out every ten years for owner-occupiers. If you are living in a privately rented property in England or Scotland, it is a legal requirement for electrical checks to be carried out on a five-yearly basis. This is something we recommend for landlords in Wales and Northern Ireland as well.

You can find a registered electrician local to you here. They will be able to carry out the inspection, issue you with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) which will either confirm that the electrics are safe or let you know any hazards that need to be addressed. They will also be able to advise you on replacing the fusebox.
