I have bought a property in a development that is over 30 years old. Should I be given any certification to prove that the electrics are safe?

There is no legal requirement to provide any certification to prove that the electrical installation is safe when selling a property. However, for your own peace of mind, we recommend using a registered electrician to carry out an inspection of the electrics. They will issue you with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) that will confirm whether the property is safe or if there is any remedial work required.

You can find a registered electrician near you here.
