No – an unregistered electrician cannot self-certify work that is notifiable under Part P of the Building Regulations. If you use an unregistered electrician for work in your home, it is your responsibility as the householder/owner to notify your Local Authority’s Building Control before the work starts.
We recommend that you always use a registered electrician. You can find one in your area here.
