Is it only legal for an electrician working for a government approved scheme operator to carry out an EICR?

Left double quote

If you are having the installation in your property tested, after which the electrician will issue you with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), the electrician carrying out the test does not have to be registered with a government approved scheme

If you are having the installation in your property tested, after which the electrician will issue you with an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR), the electrician carrying out the test does not have to be registered with a government approved scheme.

However, we recommend that you always use a registered electrician as, if a problem is identified in the EICR, they would be able to fix it.

You can find a registered electrician in your area here, as well as a list of the scheme operators for each part of the UK.
