Once work has been completed, does someone inspect the work, or how do I know if the work is done safely?

Assuming this is notifiable work such as a new circuit or addition to a circuit in a special location, if they have used a registered electrician then the electrician can self-certify the work that has been carried out. If the electrician is not registered then the work has to be notified to building control at the local authority or a registered third party who will inspect the work.
