SURGE IN DEMAND FOR BEST PRACTICE GUIDES PROMPTS LAUNCH OF NEW PROFESSIONAL SOCIAL CHANNELS
- New channels provide free resources, regulatory updates & explainers, events & training opportunities to electrical professionals.
- Downloads of charity’s Best Practice Guides have doubled year-on-year to nearly 37,000.
Electrical Safety First has launched new professional social media channels in a bid to address the surge in demand for its guidance from the professional trade sector.
These new social media channels, titled ‘ElecSafetyPro’ will deliver safety updates, expert insights, and opportunities for industry collaboration. The new channels – spanning Facebook, Instagram, Threads, X (formally known as Twitter), TikTok, YouTube and LinkedIn – will be a go-to resource for professionals seeking the latest safe working practices, regulatory updates, and educational content.
The new channels come as interest in the charity’s renowned ‘Best Practice Guides’ soars, with downloads doubling from January–August 2024 versus the same time- period last year, to nearly 37,000.
The channels will feature, amongst other things, updates and discussions on the Wiring Regulations Advisory Group, providing electricians with invaluable guidance co-ordinated and published by ESF.
Best Practice Guides, developed in collaboration with 20 leading industry bodies, will continue to provide authoritative information on a range of technical subjects, equipping professionals with the knowledge needed to maintain the highest standards of electrical safety.
The channels will offer a selection of video content, including deep dives into BS 7671 Amendments, an ‘All you need to know’ guide into the Wiring Regulations Advisory Group (WRAG) and a bitesize masterclasses on Safe Isolation. In response to the growing interest and enquiries from electricians and those in the industry, electrical installation safety engineers from Electrical Safety First will address Frequently Asked Questions through a series of informative and engaging video segments hosted on the ElecSafetyPro channels.
Additionally, the ElecSafetyPro channels will keep professionals up to date with the latest on Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs), coverage of industry-led events, such as the annual Installation Seminar, and an exclusive series of practical ‘how-to’ videos for on-the-tools sparkies. With a strong focus on video, content is designed to be more accessible for busy industry professionals.
To celebrate the launch of the new social media channels, Electrical Safety First will be holding an exclusive giveaway, offering professionals the chance to win an exciting range of merchandise – from branded lock-out kits to stylish water bottles and coffee cups. It’s easy to enter and individuals can complete bonus actions for even more chances to win.
The professional channel will sit separately from Electrical Safety First’s main social media accounts, which will now primarily focus on consumer facing issues. The separation of social media channels will allow the charity to talk directly to the professional trade, offering them content and insights relevant to their sector.
“Record numbers of electricians are accessing our free resources for professionals, which is great. But there are still lots who think our advice is just for consumers,” explained Rory Carroll, head of communications of Electrical Safety First. “We have a wealth of free resources for electricians, as it’s vital people are kept safe through the highest standards of electrical work being carried out in their homes.
“We’re launching dedicated social media channels for electrotechnical professionals, which will highlight all of that and carry updates on other tools, events and explainers of new regs and guidance that will give them the inside track.
“They will also be a way of directly engaging with electrical professionals.”
To enhance accessibility, content will be presented in engaging formats, including videos. These videos will be hosted on YouTube and further promoted across the new social channels, providing easy-to-understand guidance, particularly valuable for new professionals and apprentices in the industry.
Designed for knowledge sharing, the channels will promote key events such as conferences, webinars, and workshops, all dedicated to enhancing safety standards and saving lives.
In addition to delivering valuable resources, the channel seeks to build a community of professionals dedicated to electrical safety. It will provide a space for industry members to connect and stay informed about the latest developments and safety innovations.
The channels will go live on 2 October 2024, and industry professionals are encouraged to visit for more information.
