The product presents a serious risk of electric shock as the earthing arrangement on this appliance was considered inadequate. The earth wire was too small and under the test conditions of clause 27.5, the insulation started to burn. The endcaps were insecurely fixed as they had been simply pushed on, trapping the fuse wire alongside the barrel. Additionally, the fuse had not been supplied with any granular filler. The filler is required to ensure the safe operation of the fuse under fault conditions. The product does not meet the requirements of the Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016.
