Our committees and industry involvement

Electrical Safety First (ESF) plays an active role in shaping the future of electrical safety in the UK. We host several committees that bring together leading experts to tackle key safety issues. We also participate in a wide range of external committees, contributing our insight and expertise to standards development, technical guidance, and industry best practice.

ESF chaired committees

Electrical Safety of Products (ESOP) Committee
The ESOP Committee contributes to the development of good practice regarding the safety and safe use of electrical consumer and installation products and to identify ways in which Electrical Safety First (ESF) can promote this directly and through liaison with stakeholders.  It examines emerging risks, product standards, and regulatory matters to help ensure consumer protection from unsafe goods.

Electrical Installation Safety Forum (EISF)
The Electrical Installation Safety Forum (EISF) brings together Members to take a co-ordinated approach to the resolution of safety issues in the electrical installation sector.

EISF Sub-committees:

EICR Working Group
The group aims to enhance electrical installation condition reporting (EICRs) in domestic premises by offering independent industry advice, expertise, and support. Additionally, it reports its findings to the EISF including proposals for changes and coordination with other industry bodies such as JPEL/64, EAS, qualification awarding organizations, and the Government.

EVCP Improvement Working Group
The group aims to enhance Electric Vehicle (EV) charge point installation safety by offering independent industry advice, expertise, and support to both government and industry efforts. It also assesses and monitors industry progress on key safety issues and provides technical advice on specific electrical safety concerns as needed.
