Electrical Safety First's Comment on the Government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy

20 October 2021

Commenting on the Government’s Heat and Buildings Strategy, Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First said:

“Electrical Safety First welcomes the publication of the Heat and Buildings strategy. Electricity is clearly set to become an even more integral part of our lives so it is vital that electrical safety is not neglected as we transition to net zero.

Our recent report Future Homes – Electrical Safety in the Net Zero Home highlighted a number of risks to electrical safety and proposed recommendations to mitigate them which we hope will be considered. The Government’s approach means that consumers will have to make voluntary choices in order for Net Zero to be achieved, and therefore public engagement is key. As the UK’s leading Charity on electrical safety, we are keen to be a part of this conversation.”
