Commenting on the Queen's Speech, Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First commented: “If true strengthening of consumer rights and the protection of households is at the heart of the Government's Draft Digital Markets, Competition & Consumer Bill it is essential for it to regulate the sale of dangerous products sold via online marketplaces. If this Bill fails to tackle the burning issue of deadly products sold online it will inherently fail to adequately protect consumers.
Products sold on the largest digital platforms should be as safe as those sold on the high street. The Government must utilise this Bill to finally bring an end to this loophole in the law.”
