Electrical Safety First – Electrical Safety Board (ESB)
Role: Trustee (Voluntary)
Location: UK - London
Time commitment: 4 Board meetings per year (2 in person in London) & 4 committee meetings per year (virtual).
Do you have a background in electrical installation and a strong understanding of the UK qualification and competence standards for electricians? If so, we want you to bring your expertise to Electrical Safety First, the UK’s leading electrical safety charity.
About the Role
As a Trustee on the Electrical Safety Board (ESB), you will help guide the charity’s strategic direction and oversee its work, including its commercial subsidiary. You’ll support and challenge the Chief Executive and leadership team to ensure the charity continues to protect consumers and improve electrical safety across the UK.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic oversight and help set the charity’s goals and direction.
- Ensure compliance with charity law, governance standards and regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the effective and responsible use of the charity’s resources.
- Monitor financial performance and ensure strong financial controls.
- Actively participate in Board discussions, bringing insightful challenge and expertise.
- Protect the charity’s reputation, values and integrity.
- Use your specialist knowledge of the electrical industry to support sound decision‑making.
What We’re Looking For
- Professional experience in electrical installations.
- Understanding of UK electrical qualification and competency frameworks.
- Ability to think strategically and interpret complex information.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Commitment to electrical safety, consumer protection and high governance standards.
- Willingness to attend meetings and engage actively in Board business.
