Could you confirm how often PAT testing is required for large stationary appliances like washing machines, fridges, fridge freezers etc in Scotland?

Private Landlords in Scotland need to carry out electrical checks on the fixed installation (via an EICR) every five years. For portable appliances the frequency is not so clear but for white goods we would suggest doing at the same frequency as the fixed installation – so every five years.

We would also recommend that you register any appliances that you provide as a part of teh tenancy with the manufacturer and also check to ensure that they have not been recalled. Tenants should do the same with any appliances that they bring into the property – please see https://www.electricalsafetyfirst.org.uk/product-recalls/.
