Commenting on the NAO Product Safety Report, Martyn Allen, Technical Director at Electrical Safety First commented: “OPSS has made good progress to better product safety in recent years, but it must be given further powers to tackle risks posed by changing consumer habits. With more of us using online marketplaces than ever before tough new legislation is desperately needed to ensure these sites are held responsible for dangerous products sold via their platforms. Until such laws are introduced and OPSS given the powers they need, consumers will continue to be put at risk from potentially lethal products sold via online marketplaces, everyday.”
