Electrical Safety First Appoints New Chair

06 July 2022

Leading campaigning safety charity, Electrical Safety First, has just announced the appointment of Sarah Frost, as the new Chair of its Board of Trustees. Sarah has extensive experience of transformational ICT and digital change programmes, predominantly in the financial services, as well as a long-standing involvement with the voluntary sector.

Sarah, who has an MBA from Bayes Business School and was awarded the Financial Times Non-Executive Director Diploma, worked for over 20 years in a variety of roles in the financial sector, including the Royal Bank of Scotland, NatWest, and Coutts.

In addition to wide-ranging commercial skills, Sarah has in-depth knowledge of the voluntary sector and non-profit organisations. She is currently a Non-Executive Director for the housing association, Alliance Homes Group, and Vice Chair of Calibre Audio ─ a charity providing audio books for the visually impaired. She is also a volunteer at Lindengate, a mental health charity specialising in therapeutic horticulture.

Lesley Rudd, Chief Executive of Electrical Safety First, said: “We are delighted that Sarah has accepted the role of Chair of Trustees. The depth and range of her skill set, including her background in risk management, corporate governance, and financial reporting ─ as well as her hands-on experience of the Third sector ─ make her an ideal fit for this role.

“Sarah takes over from Andy Chaplin, who I would like to thank for his excellent work and commitment to the charity, particularly the support he has provided to me since I joined Electrical Safety First ─ and also his assistance in helping  the Charity navigate   through the pandemic and post-pandemic landscape.”

Sarah, who joined Electrical Safety First as a Board member in 2021, will take over as Chair of Electrical Safety First today – the 6th July 2022.  Andy will continue as a Charity trustee for another year.

Speaking for the first time in her new role as Chair of Electrical Safety First, Sarah Frost said: “ I am honoured to be asked to chair the Board of Electrical Safety First. I joined the charity because I believe its work focuses on essential consumer protection,  particularly for those who are vulnerable in some way. I also believe, as we move to a low-carbon future, that our mission ─ to ensure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely ─ is more important than ever.”
