Electrical Safety First is the UK’s leading charity on electrical safety. We regularly work with the media, government, businesses, and electrical industry to make sure that everyone in the UK can use electricity safely in their home. We create dynamic consumer education and lobbying campaigns, on issues from e-bike safety and electricals sold on online marketplaces, to student safety campaigns and the importance of using registered electricians.
About the role
The Communications and Marketing Executive will play a critical role in raising the profile of the charity, promote consumer safety guidance, and increase visibility of our charity and its mission to consumers across the UK. You will be a self-starter, ambitious, and enjoy building relationships with individuals from third-party organisations to create opportunities to convey our safety advice.
The role will be hybrid, working both remotely and in our Central London office. You will report to the Marketing and Communications Manager and be part of a collaborative, motivated, multi-award-winning team that values shared success. The salary offered is up to £35,000.
Main responsibilities:
- Identify and engage with external organisations to display posters or distribute leaflets promoting the charity's work.
- Mapping and maintaining relationships with marketing partners to promote the charity's safety advice across their social media channels.
- Proactively representing the charity through online community platforms, such as forums, noticeboards, and discussion groups. Being a point of contact and building their reputation.
- Support outreach to key contacts by sending merchandise, managing invitations for upcoming receptions, for both existing and potential supporters.
- Represent the charity at industry and consumer-facing events, organising the delivery of materials, branded items, and display stands.
- Contribute to the execution of one-off campaign-specific activities, including PR events and photo opportunities.
- Support the coordination of team activities and initiatives by providing administrative support and logistical support, as required.
- Create and update content for the charity's website, as needed.
- Help organise and prepare entries for awards, supporting the drafting and submission process.
- Identify potential case study leads by researching relevant platforms.
Key skills and experience required:
- Previous experience working in a communications, partnerships, stakeholder engagement, business development, or sales role.
- Understands technical aspects of electrical safety and is able to explain them clearly in everyday language.
- Proven track record working collaboratively internal team members and external partners.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage and deliver projects from start to completion.
- Demonstrates professionalism and reliability when representing the charity in-person, over the phone, and online.
- Comfortable engaging with individuals from diverse backgrounds and aware of cultural sensitives in communication.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and able to adapt language and tone for different audiences and platforms.
- Self-driven and accountable, taking initiative for their own development.
- Able to work out of hours when necessary, including events or overnight stays to support the charity's events or activities.
