Public Affairs Manager for Westminster

LOCATION: LONDON
SALARY: £48,500

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage Electrical Safety First's public affairs work programme at Westminster, strategically shaping legislation and election manifestos to amplify our voice during the run up to elections,
  • Deliver a varied calendar of virtual and in-person public affairs events, cultivating impactful engagement with key stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute a contact strategy, facilitating meetings with MPs and Peers
  • Formulate briefings and attend meetings with policymakers, ensuring persuasive representation.
  • Manage our presence at national party conferences, projecting Electrical Safety First's stance effectively.
  • Boost impact via our secretariat for the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Online and Home Electrical Safety, amplifying political engagement and policy advocacy.
  • Collaborate closely with the Research and Policy Manager, synchronising policy development with Westminster opportunities.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on the outcomes of our public affairs activities, ensuring transparency and continuous improvement.
  • Manage the Westminster team, optimising resources, fostering effective communication, and supporting well-being.
  • Line management of the Public Affairs and Policy Advisor, providing guidance and mentorship for their professional growth.

 Key skills and experience:
 

  • Significant public affairs and political influencing experience at Westminster. 
  • Experience in political campaigning and influencing of political targets and audiences.
  • Experience in line management and effective supervision.
  • Adept at organising high-level political and parliamentary events.
  • Significant expertise in comprehending and shaping the political landscape at Westminster.
  • Track record of building and maintaining influential networks with political stakeholders.
  • Ability to work autonomously and make well-founded decisions supported by evidence.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities, enabling effective influence across all levels internally and externally.
